Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic and exciting form of Hatha yoga. It is an ancient Indian yoga system that, through a set of sequences and postures, allows the body to progressively open and strengthen. The sequence of postures is combined with a specific breathing technique and internal "locks", which are the key to a deeper practice and bring energy to the core of the body, so tightness in the outer muscles can release. Listening to the mantra-like sound of their breath, the practitioner flows through the sequence in a form of moving mediation that is both energising and deeply calming.
Clare Brooksbank
Clare was first introduced to Ashtanga yoga during travels in India 15 years ago. She has since studied with some of the most respected Ashtanga teachers and completed a teacher training course in 1997 with the late Derek Ireland. She very much enjoys involving herself in the personal practices of all her students, whatever their capabilities or experience.
