Banxy: Potent dance moves, street sounds and hip hop
Banxy

On Friday 23 November at 8pm, Banxy, Makin Projects and Swindon Dance present Busk: Kings of the Sidewalk at Derby Dance, a triple bill of hip hop dance theatre.

A co-production between Makin Projects and Swindon Dance, Busk: Kings of the Sidewalk combines the talents of UK hip hop veteran Banxy with five professional dancers. Together they create theatre that is physical and energetic, technically brilliant, with universal appeal.

The first piece of the evening, Kings of the Sidewalk, takes a critical look at the contemporary hip hop scene. Then The Immortal Game tells a story of rites of passage from a thousand years ago.

The final piece, Busk, takes a nostalgic look back to the hip hop scene of the 80s. Busk is street theatre in its truest form, dreamt up in the bustling shopping precincts of yesteryear, with a distinctly British flavour. Expect backspins, robotics and a heavy dose of 80s hip hop nostalgia.

After the performance on Friday 23 November, audiences will be able to sample the finest urban music and spoken word performers at Derby Dance’s regular club night, Sugar Shack.

Tickets for Busk: Kings of the Sidewalk, including free entry into Sugar Shack, are £10 (£8 concessions), available from Derby Dance Box Office on 01332 370911.
