Meet the artists at Derby Dance this week

Derby Dance is pleased to be hosting a free artist talk in association with the One Step Beyond Fringe Exhibition on Thursday 15 May.

Artists talking about their work will include painters Deborah Allitt and Julian Woodcock, textile artist Philippa Stone and photographer Maggy Milner. Attendees will be able to talk to the artists about their work and will have the opportunity to ask questions whilst viewing the exhibition.

This One Step Beyond Fringe, showcasing the cream of regional artistic talent, is on display in Derby Dance’s CUBE café|bar and gallery spaces until 28 May. Other venues hosting the event include Derby Cathedral, Banks’ Mill Studios and Derby City Hospital.

In conjunction with the University of Derby and Derby Museum and Gallery’s One Step Beyond exhibition, the Fringe aims to promote around a dozen innovative emerging artists from the East Midlands, working across a range of styles and disciplines. The fringe will raise the profile of these artists by exposing their work to new audiences and bringing their social, cultural and creative ideas together in some of Derby’s most creative organisations.

The One Step Beyond Fringe Exhibition is currently showing in Derby Dance’s gallery spaces and the CUBE café|bar until the 28 May 2008. Entry to the exhibition is free. The artist talk will take place on Thursday 15 May from 1-2pm at Derby Dance.

The One Step Beyond exhibition is taking place at Derby Museum and Gallery until the 14 June 2008.
